đŤ Personal Reflections
When I was around 8 years old, my family moved into an old, beautiful home. It had French doors, a wraparound porch, and so much character. I loved itâbut the moment I stepped through the threshold, I just knew something was there.
The energy felt heavy. Thick. I had no logical reason to feel that way, but I could sense it clearly. It was telling me something supernatural was in the home. That was my first experience with claircognizance (clear knowing) and clairsentience (clear feeling).
Not long after, I saw the spirit: a tall, solid black, cloaked figure. That was my first true experience with clairvoyance (clear seeing). Needless to say, we didnât stay in that house very long.
Years later, I found out that the previous residents had actually asked for the home to be exorcised due to unexplained activity.
Well⌠the exorcism didnât work. đ

đ The Clairs
There are four primary intuitive sensesâcommonly referred to as “the Clairs”:
- Clairvoyance (clear seeing) đď¸
- Clairaudience (clear hearing) đ§
- Clairsentience (clear feeling) đ
- Claircognizance (clear knowing) đ§
Each one connects us to our intuitive self and the unseen world in its own way.
âIntuition is seeing with the soul.â â Dean Koontz
đď¸ Clairvoyance â Clear Seeing
Clairvoyance is the ability to receive intuitive information through visual imagery. This might show up as mental pictures, symbols, flashes of light, or even full visions seen with your third eye. For some, it feels like imagining somethingâbut the images come uninvited and feel more vivid or symbolic. Rarely, people may also see things with their physical eyesâlike spirits, shadows, or energy. If youâve ever had a dream that came true, seen colors around people, or visualized a person or place before it appeared in your life, you may have already experienced clairvoyance.
đ§ Clairaudience â Clear Hearing
Clairaudience is the ability to hear intuitive guidance. This may sound like your own voice in your head, a word or name that pops in suddenly, or even external sounds when no one is aroundâlike music, footsteps, or whispers. Itâs not always loud or dramatic; sometimes itâs a gentle phrase that repeats in your mind until you pay attention. If youâve ever heard a warning or a comforting word out of nowhere that turned out to be meaningful, thatâs clairaudience at work.
đ Clairsentience â Clear Feeling
Clairsentience means feeling energy and emotion that doesnât necessarily belong to you. People with this gift often walk into a room and immediately sense the vibeâtense, peaceful, chaotic, heavy. You might feel the emotions of others as if theyâre your own, or get chills and body sensations that signal something unseen. Empaths often experience clairsentience without realizing itâs a psychic ability.
đ§ Claircognizance â Clear Knowing
Claircognizance is that strong, sudden knowing that comes without explanation. Itâs like information drops into your awareness out of nowhereâfacts, answers, or truths that just feel right, even if you have no logical way to know them. You may blurt something out and later find it was exactly what someone needed to hear. If youâve ever said, âI donât know how I knowâI just do,â youâve experienced claircognizance. This gift often comes through fast insights, gut instincts, or spontaneous ideas.

đ§ââď¸ Reclaiming Your Intuition
Throughout my life, Iâve had experiences with all four Clairs. One big thing Iâve learned is this: itâs very easy to dismiss themâespecially when youâre taught from a young age that they “arenât real.”
We often have to unlearn that belief system before we can begin to trust our inner senses again.
âWe are all born intuitive. It’s the world that teaches us to doubt it.â
Once you begin to notice these subtle nudgesâthose gut feelings, those little flashes of insightâyou can stop, acknowledge them, and begin strengthening that connection. The more you tune in, the more they show up.
I truly believe weâre all born with intuitive gifts. Itâs not about being specialâitâs about being open. The journey is simply about remembering whatâs already within you. If youâve ever had a moment where something didnât make sense logically, but you felt it anyway⌠youâve already had a Clair moment.
The more you trust it, the more it grows.
âď¸Journal prompt: Tuning in
- Write about a time you experienced one of your intuitive senses (the clairs).
Maybe you knew something before it happened, felt someoneâs energy shift, or saw something in your mindâs eye. Describe the moment, how it felt, and how you responded. - If nothing comes to mind, reflect on this instead:
How can you become more open and aware of these subtle experiences in daily life?
⨠A Quick Breakdown
- Clairvoyance often means “seeing” through the third eye, though it can sometimes manifest as actual visual sightingsâthis is less common.
- Clairaudience may sound like a voice in your head, or occasionally like someone speaking aloud near you, even when no one is there.
- Clairsentience is the ability to feel the energy or emotions of people, places, or spirits.
- Claircognizance is the deep, sudden knowing of something without any logical explanation.
